Free Motion Meandering Class

Free motion quilting can be fun! In this beginner class the students will learn how to set up the machine for free motion quilting, prepare your fabric, needle selection, and understand how to adjust tension. We will go through several meandering stitches to show how quick and fun free motion can be with very few rules involved. We will end the class with a sample of how to mix those meandering stitches to make a beautiful design that is all your own! Be sure that you can cover or lower your feed dogs and bring a free motion/darning foot. You’ll get the supply list when you register. Bring your own lunch. Level: Beginner and beyond, you should know how to use your sewing machine. Call us at 320-587-8341 to register.

Let’s Make a Jacket 2!

Ready to make a fashion statement? Join us for a Quilted Jacket or Quilted Hoodie class on Saturdays September 19 and October 3 from 10:00 – 3:00 pm. The first session will focus on your choice of patterns available at Quilt Haven on Main (The Elemental Coat, Tamarack Jacket, or Quilted Hoodie). Then let’s get the pattern sized to you and traced onto Pattern Ease. This will help with making a personalized size sample and for future projects.

You will also need to decide in advance whether you are cutting up a pre-made quilt, using one of our five “cheater prints” that look pieced, or starting with yardage and a pattern to make a quilted (but not bound) top to be cut into the jacket parts. If starting with a pattern and yardage, it is recommended that you stop at the shop to make your purchase and start sewing before class begins. It is also recommended that if you want a pieced topper or the cheater print topper sandwiched and quilted prior to the 2nd class, you should contact your longarm quilter to get on their schedule in advance.

During class there will be several staff instructors on hand to guide and assist. There will also be sergers for use in the final construction stage. An alternate way of finishing raw-edge seams with binding will also be demonstrated. Come join us for a fun and creative class!!

Call Quilt Haven on Main at #320-587-8341 to register. Ask for Beth, Peggy or Robin if you have specific questions!
